Today I have on my Festina F16351/4 Chrono Bike. For those who don’t know, Festina are the official timekeeper of the Tour de France and this watch is from the line they make to recognize that.
I managed to score this watch brand new several years ago for super cheap (paid $1oo when it retailed for close to $400) at a Jewelry store. It was the only Festina in the store and I guess the people behind the counter had never heard of them. Honestly, I hadn’t either. I did a little research while I was there and, realizing what it was and what a great price they had for it, purchased it.
By far this is the heaviest watch I have. I’m not too big on that and it took some getting used to, but I was drawn in by the looks. The yellow part of the face is actually carbon fiber and I think it is a unique and nice touch.
So Oppo, what do you have on today?

Why is that? I don’t own a smart watch so I can’t really have an opinion on them.

Because people jump to conclusions without owning one. For example, it's not cheap, and also people may find the additional features frivolous. Honestly, I was a hater at first, but then I bought one. Now I’m quite satisfied.

Yeah I know they aren’t cheap. You bring up a good point, too. Those that have their opinions do so because they either don’t own one or think it is useless. I am a fan of watches, no matter what kind they are. That’s why I have 17 of the damned things! It’s all about what you like. You’re satisfied with yours and that’s what matters.

My Invicta Lefty. Bought it on the internet for like €100 while advised retail was somewhere around €400. It’s a nice watch for €100 but definetely not €400 nice, since the canvas strap has worn to bits within 2 years and it is full of scratches on the chrome.

Casio Wave Ceptor. Not anything special to look at but it's solar powered and the time is synced to a radio signal so it's completely maintenance free.

Ok I was hoping somebody would post one of these. When I first got into watches, Invicta was considered a mushroom brand that wouldn’t be around long. Quality was poor to begin with and they always would inflate their price and sell them for a huge deal. It really likes like they have tried hard to boost their quality and image in the last couple of years, though. That being said, have you had any issues with yours? Do you like it so far? I do like how yours looks. Don’t see many lefty watches and that’s cool.

Nope, have not had any real issues, the scratches are probably due to me wearing it almost every day, and not being careful enough. I like it a lot, although it was kinda big and heavy in the beginning. What I like most about it, apart from being a lefty, is that the Tachymeter numbers are located beneath the glass, instead of on a bezel, giving it a nice and clean look, unlike many other 46mm watches, which look way to bulky.

Timex plain-jane don’t-know-the-model-name.
Stainless & water resistant, with stainless springy band. Glowing hands, indiglo, date and day of week, sans-serif numbers, 24h inset numbers, minute marks, nothing more, nothing less. So close to perfect. The only thing more I could ask for is a left-hand crown.

It was a very lovely wood watch. Probably my favorite watch to date, but my recently ex gave it to me and so in a fit of deciding to purge everything, I was drunk at the bar, went out to have a smoke and used my lighter to burn the watch right then and there.

A Fossil Coachman. It has an extra strip of leather behind the watchface, so the only thing touching my wrist is super soft leather. So comfy!
But take a look at the right-most inner dial; it just displays the hour. It’s literally an extra hour hand...because...symmetry?

Yeah, not really sure. I’ve seen a few that are set up that way. I love Fossil watches in general. I think I have 4 or 5 now. My first watch was a Fossil given to me on my 18th birthday. Still have and still runs great 14 years later!

It seems most Invictas are big and heavy. I know a lot of Diesel watches are huge as well. Glad to hear it works well though. I have always been a bit skeptical, but Invicta makes some nice looking watches. I may have to get one at some point.

Can’t go wrong with a nice, clean design. This gonna sound stupid, but does your hair get caught in the band? I remember my grandfather having an old Timex with that kind of band. When I would try to wear it, it would pull my hair.

That’s cool. I don’t think it is that redundant if it saves you from checking your phone. I’ve almost bought a smart watch a few times but would eventually decide against it. My only reasoning is I can’t really justify it since it would just be in the rotation with my others watches.

A Moto 360 seems pretty cool, but because Android changes so much, the watch might be outdated after a few years. If it’s $200+ dollars, I want it to be with me for five years at least.

Yeah, wait for Android Wear to mature. I find it really hard to believe anyone can say smartwatches are already so good for them. All the internals need to be microscopic compared to what they are now in phones/tablets. That stuff can’t be good right from the get go. Heavy emphasis on batteries.

I like the Orange ones too. There are some really rare ones from Japan that I’ve been eyeballing for a while, but don’t want to drop that kind of coin on a watch. I got this for under $200 a few years ago and absolutely love it. If I bang it up against something, I just feel bad for whatever it hit. Built like a tank.
